Senior Customer Solutions Manager at Pipedrive
My name is André Vidal and I live in Lisbon, Portugal. I was born in 1991 and spent my childhood in a small town in the south of Portugal in a region called Alentejo, which, until today, is my favourite place in the country.
When I was 12 I moved to another small town, but this time in the north of Portugal where I spent my teenage years. I have two brothers and one of them is my twin (yes, I have all those twin stories to tell). During this period, I started getting interested in writing, I had several blogs and my dream was to become a journalist and write books. And this is what led me to pick Journalism when I had to choose my subject in the University.
When I was 18 years old, I moved to Lisbon to study Sciences of Communication at Faculdade de Ciências Socials e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa and after that I did my masters degree in Journalism at the same University. During this period I also had the chance to study in Rome (Italy) for 6 months by joining the Erasmus program, which was a great experience for personal development.
Since I finished my studies, I can’t really say hat I succeeded in my initial plan. I worked temporarily at some newspapers and magazines, but they were short experiences and I didn’t write a book, although I tried a couple of times. However, my path was filled with many different experiences which definitely contributed to what and where I am today. I worked at clothes shops, I did door to door sales and performed administrates tasks. I moved to Budapest (Hungary) and lived there for about two years, while working in a Customer Service position.
All these were very different, but had some things in common: all of them involved good communication skills (talking and writing) and people skills (knowing what to say, when to say and how to say something). This combined with my past experiences moving from town to town, even from country to country, made me into a very flexible person, easy to adapt to adverse situations and good at building relationships.
In 2016, I joined Pipedrive as a Customer Solutions Expert, where I could use all of these skills to provide the best possible service to Pipedrive’s customers. I was at Pipedrive for more than 7 years and I evolved into different roles, the last being Senior Customer Solutions Manager, responsible for Support’s operations in these three locations: Lisbon (Portugal), Tallinn (Estonia), St. Petersburg (Florida, USA).
In December 2024, I joined Dashlane as a Customer Support Operations Manager and I continue to be very passionate about leading customer service teams and transform the customer experience. This is the reason why I use this blog to share my learnings, as I believe I can also help someone the way others helped me and i believe that sharing what we know is half way to success as we will get so much in return.
